feel like more than just mom

 Hate the gym but need something to boost your energy and mood?

Welcome to Rope-a-dopamine: online and outdoor boxing therapy to destress, feel fit and better equipped to roll with life's punches.

meet your trainer

hi! i'm joanne

Mom of two, pre/postpartum & boxing coach, and owner of an absolutely f*cked pelvic floor...

After my first daughter bust through me like a freight train, I qualified as a trainer so I could fix my own postpartum hangups and help other women in return.

Discovering boxing gave me an outlet for pent-up emotions and a healthy discipline in my exercise regime that didn't revolve around calorie counting and guilt trips.

I help you bounce forward by exercising to feel strong, healthy, and better able to cope with the stressors of life.

WHY BOXING?

WHY BOXING?

Life after a baby can seem like a shit show with daily compound interest, and just when you're through one stage or milestone, life can sucker-punch you with the next.  You want a fitness routine that isn't going to drain any of your precious little time and energy, right?

Boxing is perfect if you are getting back into the swing of exercise because...

* it will get you sweaty AF in a very short session, so no slogging it out for hours or pushing beyond your capabilities

* you need zero experience

* it's low/no impact

* it's stress-busting and endorphin-boosting

* you'll find a sense of community and moms that just "get it

After having my first daughter, boxing was one of the few workouts that could make me sweat, give me the endorphin rush I craved, but not pee my pants as a side effect.

Through boxing, I was able to meet other mums, and the sense of camaraderie and "we f*cking did it!" after a session is second to none.

WHY OUTDOORS?

benefits of sunshine workouts

Okay, but it's just as good as working out in the gym...right?

Heck no!

Training outside has incredible benefits for your body and mind.

  • 1Training in the sun raises your vitamin D levels which supports your immune system and bone health. If you chose to breastfeed this is also great for both you and your baby!
  • 2*Deep breath* Annnnd relax. Studies have shown training outside in clean air can alleviate symptoms of stress and anxiety.
  • 3Training outside can actually boost your cardio fitness. Warm weather improves the body's ability to get oxygen to the tissues that need it and increases blood flow which has a positive adaptation on your blood vessels.
  • 4I'll go ahead and say it because I know you are thinking it too - the gym sucks @ss. Getting out into an ever-changing, beautifully scenic, fresh surroundings is going to be WAY more motivating than staring at someone's crack on the weight rack.
  • 5Training in a group boosts serotonin levels (the feel-good hormone) and what is better than training with a bunch of women who get how freaking hard this sh!t is?!

& why training with me is different

reason 01

I see you, beyond just being someone's mom.

Your reasons to work out are yours and yours alone.  Want to feel less irritable when putting the kids to bed?  I got you.  Are you career-driven and want to have the energy to climb the ladder alongside raising your family?  Girl, I'm so there!

I will help you build and smash any goals that support your physical and mental wellbeing.

reason 02

It's important to feel strong.

Life can come at you just when you think you're finding your feet.  Moving, job loss, break-ups, grief, illness and all the other shit we can't bear thinking of...it happens.

My training builds mindset and muscles, so you can be resilient to all of life's highs and lows, and I have a community of like-minded moms who understand your struggles.

reason 03

It's not just about weight loss.

Having kids takes a physical toll on you, whether or not you carried your baby in your belly.  You may be dealing with no physical side effects, or you may be suffering from side effects years down the line.

Either way, your journey in motherhood is unique and I am here to help you feel fully supported, whatever your experience.
